Did I miss something? Why is Opelousas Catholic, Sacred Heart and Ouachita Christian listed in the Division V power ratings and not Division IV since they are Class 1A football playing schools.

First thing is you can't compare to Football, football's lowest class is 1A.
While I agree, these schools are competing in 1A Districts, I've seen teams in different class/division for playoffs, although it is rare. I have simply placed these teams in the Division that the LHSAA has been publishing them in. I will keep an eye out and if the LHSAA changes the division, then I will follow suit.
To make it even weirder, Opelousas & Ouachita are both in Division IV in Girls Basketball. Where I had all three of these teams when I started the season.
Thanks for the Feedback, all feedback is appreciated!

Gotcha. Probably just an oversight on the LHSAA's part.
In the 2015-2016 school year Crescent City was in District 8-1A with the Ridgewood's and Ecole Classique's of the world. They played football that year with a low high school enrollment. I don't rememeber what it was but I asked an athletic director friend of mine at the time if they could play in a smaller class in other sports since their enrollment was at the Class B or C level. His response was that unless it was a special situation (i.e. a school participating in a sport that no one else or only a few schools in their class participates in) they would have to play all sports in their football playing district. One year later they dropped football, dropped to Class B for basketball where their boys won the district 8-B championship and the Division V State Championship. Their girls actually fared better in Class A than they did in B.

I agree, it's probably an oversight. The LHSAA has plenty of them. In fact, until I brought it to their attention last week, they were calculating Crescent City as a 1A school, which affects their PR.
That doesn't make sense though....football doesn't go lower than 1A, so they penalize all the other sports teams because the school wants to play football?

Classes 1A - 5A do not get any credit for games played before their season starts. So having Crescent City listed as a B school means that they will get credit for opponents wins prior to 12/13 which they should not. Good question! Brad

Brad i'm not sure when it officially happened in relation to the last reclassification, but Crescent City was in the NOLA 1A district and dropped football. they then won the boys basketball state championship in select Division V, all of the class B and C schools. one more thing... if you're 1A and drop football, do you have to wait till reclassification to join class B?

I can't answer that, but based on CC's schedule, they are playing a Class B District schedule, so based on that, I am classifying them as Class B.
They are also listed as Class B in Baseball....And since that post was made, they have been moved to Class B in Basketball as well.
